WHERE THE FISH AREThe table immediately below identifies the species available for each area of our operations. We differentiate between resident and migratory salmonoids as we have a large population of them which have made the 320 square mile Lago Llanquihue (yan-kee-way) their year-round home. As a result, we do not rely on migratory seasons to fish for them. Migratory salmonoids return to our river systems to spawn as shown below. They may also be taken as an incidental catch in lakes such as Rosselot, as they pass from one river system to the next. |

WHEN TO EXPECT THE FISHThe table immediately below identifies the months when the indicated species may be expected to be available. Those periods shaded in the darker color are the prime fishing months. During those periods marked in the lighter color, the indicated fish can be and are taken, however, it is not the prime period in which to do so. At YAN KEE WAY, we have an advantage in the opening dates for the fishing season in Chile. Normally, November is the opening date for all freshwater fishing in Chile. Due to the large resident salmon population which has established itself in Lago Llanquihue, the season for all trout and salmon species here begins in the month of September, two months in advance of the country-wide freshwater opening dates. Country-wide in Chile, the saltwater fishing season is open year-round, including the ability to fish in estuaries. |
