CLOTHING & PERSONAL ITEMS FOR FISHING EXPEDITIONS
|
|
To assure your comfort on the water, we recommend that you bring the following minimum clothing: a quality hooded rain jacket, warm sweater or pullover (such as a
Synchilla product), medium weight Capilene or polypropylene undershirt, medium weight Capilene or polypropylene long underwear pants, wool or polypropylene
socks, fishing hat, small day pack, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, film, small zip lock bags to protect your camera, flashlight, personal medication, and a
small water bottle. Our weather is that it is changeable and cool during the majority of the fishing season.
FISHING EQUIPMENT
Once your reservations are made, our fishing expedition coordinator will provide you with more specific information related to the areas, water and fishing conditions
associated with your personal fishing expedition. The following are minimum guidelines: wading boots with felt soles, neoprene waders (or Gortex as cold
protection is not an issue), wading belt, wading staff is optional, fishing vest or chest pack, forceps, nippers, and strike indicators.
You have a range of choices for rods, but essentially you should have at least two weight systems that suit your personal tastes. The key is versatility so that you may
match your rod and line weights to the fishing conditions and the fish. We recommend medium to fast action rods. Four piece models are useful as you can
carry these with you on board the airline and forgo the risk of loosing them to baggage handling. Specific recommendations each lodge are made in our Pre
-Trip information document that may be accessed in the form of an Adobe Acrobat file at the links immediately below.

Your fishing expedition coordinator will discuss with you the flies that you will need. By way of interest, a number of flies that catch fish at our lodges are listed below. If
you have these flies in your vest, then bring them along. Obviously, some flies work better than others. We have some special fly kits for each lodge that we can
provide to you on your arrival. The kits, tied to our specifications, are available at $100 and $150 each. The cost per fly averages approximately $2.00. There are a
total of 4 fly kits, two each for El Patagon and two for Yan Kee Way. We have evolved some special patterns, not revealed here, that are available to you on your expedition.
