Departure from Yan Kee Way Lodge to “Los Volcanes Park”.
This excursion is suitable for all persons, including children over 12 years old. Previous experience is not necessary but a basic level of physical fitness and spirit of adventure is required.
Our expedition begins within the temperate rain forest, or cool jungle as it is sometimes called. Our expedition will first take us to
“Piedra Falls Lookout Point”. Once there, we will give our bodies a chance to relax as for some guests, they have not been on a horse for some time. Our location, at this point in the expedition, provides you with a great opportunity to take photographs of the beautiful surroundings. We remount and continue our ride along beds of volcanic sand and rock, with Calbuco Volcano always before us and Lake Llanquihue, Osorno Volcano and Lake Todos Los Santos at our backs.
Leaving the horses once again, we’ll begin an exciting trek which takes us among the rocks and formations along the riverbank. After a short treck, we’ll arrive at “Caliente Falls” or the Hot
Waterfall.
Here, at the site of this impressive 197-foot “hot” waterfall, we may relax, stand and swim under the Falls or sit back in the temperate pools nearby. It’s hard to believe that nature not only provided this impressive waterfall, but at the same time was gracious enough to heat itup for us! As we enjoy our box-lunch, we’ll build up our energy with a few of the goodies therein--chocolates, fruit, sandwiches on homemade bread, mineral water, and chocolate milk. After our well earned rest, we’ll return to our horses and begin making our way up the Caliente River Canyon. After enjoying the vistas from the peak, we’ll remount our horses and begin the trip home to Yan Kee Way lodge.
